The Low down on Residential express permits
Did you know
the City of Eugene Building and Permit Services Office currently offers an express permit application review program for specific residential projects? Their goal is to be able to issue the permit on the same day!
The following projects are eligible for this program:
Interior remodel
First story additions under 500 square feet
Single-story detached accessory structures under 500 square feet
Garage conversions (that do not create a new dwelling unit)
Decks
The Residential Express Permit (REP) Steps:
Apply through eBuild
Review the Residential Express Permit qualification guidelines BEFORE submitting an application. Applications for Express Permits must be submitted through eBuild. There you will upload a completed application, drawings, and then will choose an available review time. Available review times are 9:00 am, 10:00 am, 11:00 am, and 12:00 noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Staff Confirms the Application is Accepted into the Express Program
Once your application has been submitted, staff will conduct a review of your project to verify that your project qualifies for the Express Permit program and that they have a complete package. After the completeness review is done, you will receive a notice advising you of next steps.
Once your application has been accepted, you will be able to submit changes to your project up until your scheduled review time. To ensure your application and submittals are complete, see the Residential Express Permit intake checklist.
The Residential Express Permit Review Appointment
Projects are considered for Residential Express Permit (REP) review on Tuesday and Thursday. The owner, or person authorized by the owner, to make modifications to the plans/design must be available by phone during the entire selected review time.
Plan examiners from various disciplines review the individual building code requirements based on their respective fields and if needed, the staff will call you to discuss any necessary revisions to bring your design into full code compliance.
